Midlands of England

Just a few Townsley family entries appear in the records for the English Midlands.

The main one is this family line that appears in the West Midlands in the 1850’s - but here the parents came from Scotland and Ireland. Other Townsleys appear here later - some coming from the family line covered under Wales. Unusually both the Welsh family line and the West Midlands family line start from a William Townsley born in Scotland. Neither William has been traced within the Scottish records. Any clues anyone?

There is, possibly, another Townsley connection but in the East Midlands - around Louth, Lincolnshire. Here we have a Brett family where several family members have Townsley as a middle name; for example George Townsley Brett (1822-1855) and Thomas Townsley Brett (1828-1904). This may indicate that Townsley was the maiden name of an ancestor.
